Fever, and Not the Disco Kind.

So it’s exactly one month till I leave Japan. What better way to start it off than to catch flu, or whatever it is I have. I was feeling perfectly fine in the morning and hoping for the day to pas by quickly so that I could head out in the evening to take photographs at the flower park. I enjoyed a good curry lunch, even though I started feeling a bit chilly… and that’s when things started to go downhill. After lunch my head started to feel progressively hotter, and by the time the end of the day rolled around I had to email my friend to say I’m going home and won’t be able to make it to the flower park. I came home and immediately fell asleep for a few hours. I woke up feeling worse than before and I knew I had a high fever. Eventually I managed to leave home and go to Circle K, only to find they had no medication. Fortunately the storekeeper, who I know fairly well from my frequent visits there was able to give me some Paburon, which I guess is kind of like Tylenol since it also has ibuprofin. After the medication I felt somewhat better and was able to go to sleep for the night.

I woke up this morning still not feeling good, but at least no longer feverish. Even though I have no sick days left, I knew if I went to work I’d get nothing done and would probably be passing out on my desk for most of the day so I decided to call in sick. I’m still a bit optimistic about my condition since it didn’t seem to worsen overnight, so today I’m going to the drug store to buy some more medication and hopefully I’ll be well enough by tomorrow to resume work. Only three weeks of work remaining after this Friday…
